Below are brief descriptions of our termite control programs. The Pest Detective offers two types of termite control services, Conventional liquid treatment and Baiting. After a thorough inspection of your property, we will go over your options in more detail, to determine which treatment for termites would be best for your property. BAITING SYSTEMThe baiting system involves the placement of stations in the ground along the outside of the structure. Termites find the cellulose material in the stations by foraging naturally in a random fashion and establish the station as a feeding site. When termites are detected the cellulose is replaced with a bait containing a growth inhibitor which prevents the termites from molting. The termites continue to feed and to bring the material back to the rest of the colony and feed other termites, spreading the material throughout This type of treatment reduces the numbers to the point where colony elimination can and usually occurs. This can take from nine to eighteen months or more to take place as multiple colonies or large colonies may be present. Spot treatments and gel baits can be used to help protect the property. Service is performed on a monthly basis until elimination is achieved and then on a quarterly basis for as long as the contract is active and no other termites are detected. This job comes with a two year renewable treatment warranty and a yearly inspection which is done in the winter each year that the contract is active. This type of treatment is less intrusive to the homeowner and is done on the outside only with few exceptions. CONVENTIONAL LIQUID TREATMENTThis treatment involves treating beneath the slab floor of your basement or home, garage, sunroom, porch etc. and injecting liquid chemical beneath to treat the soil. A trench is dug along the foundation and inside any dirt crawlspace and the chemical is placed in the trench and covered with untreated soil. This manner is very labor intensive for the homeowner as well as us. All stored items must be moved from the walls at least two to three feet. When we treat we must drill through the slab with a concrete hammer drill to treat. After treatment the hole is sealed with a cork and re-cemented. We will do this type of treatment ONLY in an unfinished basement. No carpet or tile. This job comes with a 2 year renewable treatment warranty and we will come back only if there is a problem. The exception to this is for a yearly inspection which is done in the winter each year that the contract is active. Spot treatments only are done and then only if there is a re-infestation of termites in the structure. |
